The Morning Prayer

 Starting the Day at the Throne of Grace

Psalm 5 is the perfect prayer to start your day: a cry for attention, a commitment to worship, and a request for guidance.

"Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groanings... O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch." (Psalm 5:1, 3)

David teaches us the priority: God First. Don't wait for the day to start consuming you. Present yourself to Him at the beginning, before the chaos. The word "watch" here means to wait expectantly, like a sentry waiting for the dawn.

By making God your refuge, He will guide you and surround you with favor like a shield: "For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield." (v. 12). Don’t Be Afraid – God Fights for You
